The Governor of the Zlín Region is the represents the Region outwardly. S/he cannot execute acts that are subject to approval by the Assembly and/or Council until they are approved. The Governor appoints and removes the director of the Regional Authority (if approved by the Minister of the Interior), establishes special bodies if authorized to do so, is responsible for keeping the public informed about the Region's activities etc. The Governor summons (and usually also presides over) the sessions of the Region’s Assembly and Council.
Radim Holiš, Governor of Zlín Region
The governor was born on 12 August 1975 in Valašské Meziříčí.
He graduated at the Secondary Grammar School of František Palacký in Valašské Meziříčí and subsequently studied building constuctions at the Faculty of civil engineering of the Technical University in Brno.
After graduation, he started working as a project designer with an authorization for building construction, since 2012 he has also been engaged in the implementation of buildings.
In 2014, he became a member of the ANO 2011 movement.
Since 2014, he has been the mayor of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
He is married, has a daughter and a son and lives with his family in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm.
